Connecting and working with other people and with community groups is an enjoyable part of both my HIV Chaplain and HIV Pharmacist roles, and is essential to delivering an effective service (which I hope I do!). In both positions the needs of the person living with HIV and/or their loved one(s) are paramount, and it’s hugely helpful to be able to refer or signpost someone to people and organisations that I know personally, such as Lunch Positive for food, peer support, volunteering and befriending, Terrence Higgins Trust for benefits advice, and the Sussex Beacon.

I wanted to write and thank Billie Lewis and the volunteers from the Brighton & Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum, for everything they did to help us with the Soul Safari days at the B Right On LGBT festival. They did an absolutely amazing job with everything, and the space they created for us to work was great. It gave so many groups, including The Village MCC, the opportunity to feel that there was a bridge between the LGBT+ community and ourselves.

The Brighton Gay Men’s chorus present a free Tribute Concert on Sunday, February 5 at the Phil Starr Pavilion during Soul Safari 1, a day exploring our LGBT spirituality organised by Village MCC. The concert will be remembering choir member Pablo Fernández-Arias, who passed away shortly before Christmas.
