Eric Page goes home to Wales to enjoy the The Big Weekend and celebrate Pride Cymru 2018. Huge crows attended the nineteenth annual Pride Cymru event on City Hall Lawns in Cardiff over the weekend of August 24-26 with ten thousand people taking part in the mile long parade.
This was the 19th annual Pride Cymru event in Cardiff and this year’s event was bigger than ever. With 50,000 people attended the city’s main day of the three day ‘Big Weekend’ festival and record numbers pouring into the city all weekend.
More than 10,000 people took part in the mile long parade with the sun shining, happy crowds watching it lined the main streets of the city centre;
MANCHESTER Pride has today confirmed its annual August bank holiday festival will go ahead in 2019 but will look and feel radically different to previous years. The four-day event, known as The Big Weekend, has been around for more than 25 years being know at different times by various names including Pride, Mardi Gras and The Big Weekend and has traditionally taken place only in Manchester’s historic gay village around Canal Street.
Rita Ora, Jake Shears, Sigala, Alexandra Burke, Nadine Coyle and Louise head up Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend in August.
Now in its 25th year, organisers estimate 3,000 people paraded through the city centre with thousands more lining the streets to watch. Participants included local businesses, corporate companies, statutory service providers and a float from Coronation Street.
As a Welsh Gay man, returning home for this superb, fun, engaging LGBTQ Pride event, I felt truly proud to see my county and capital city embracing LGBTQ folk and rights in such a passionate, friendly and authentic way. What a great BIG weekend and what a welcome from the Cardiff gay boyo’s.

Marking Thomas Cook Airlines and Manchester Airport’s joint headline sponsorship of Manchester Pride’s The Big Weekend, the airline has adorned one of its fleet – an A321 operating short-haul routes – with a special rainbow edition of its sunny heart logo.

Manchester Pride has added some of the best dance music acts in the country to its line-up for the Gaydio Dance Arena at The Big Weekend which takes place from Friday August 25 to Monday, August 28.
City’s first openly gay Lord Mayor will be Parade Grand Marshal this Saturday at Manchester Pride. Lord Mayor of Manchester, Carl Austin-Behan, will be the Grand Marshal at this year’s Manchester Pride’s Parade.
