Former life guard, Rachel Midgley, manages the 3 Jolly Butchers on North Road in central Brighton. Located in the North Laines, close to Brighton train station, the traditional, yet modern, stylish pub attracts a mixed clientele with their friendly staff and high end traditional pub food menu.
The Marine Tavern is the latest venue in the village to offer Sunday Lunch. The Marine is small but perfectly formed and you can eat at the bar or the tables to the rear where 16 people can be comfortably accommodated. Bee is the chef in the upstairs kitchen, ably assisted by Joe who cuts a fine image in his whites.
I’ve sampled Sunday lunch at many venues over the last few months, but few tick the ‘value for money’ box as the food served by Aaron (aka Spice) at the Bedford Tavern in Hove. The main course was priced at £8.95 with desert at £3 and a glass of wine with your meal costings just £1.
In addition to the weekly Friday HIV Lunch Club, Lunch Positive will be running a monthly Sunday Lunch for people with HIV starting November 2. The Sunday Lunch will be held at the Lunch Positive hired venue, Dorset Gardens Methodist Church and will take place on the first Sunday of each month during the autumn and winter.
