Brighton & Hove City Council are on the lookout for ten Oral History volunteers to help document the captivating stories of Stanmer Park’s past and present place. The volunteers will record people’s feelings and attitudes towards the park, as well as the rich heritage of the Estate, its landscapes, and the people who have lived in the area over the years.
From fence laying to hedgerow cutting, rangers from Brighton & Hove City Council’s countryside team have been working with a team from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSS CRC) to improve the city’s parks and open spaces.

Plans for a £5.8 million restoration at the heart of Stanmer Park move closer as council submits bid for Stage 2 Heritage Lottery Funding. The Stanmer Park and Estate Restoration Project aims to restore around 20 hectares of the park’s landscape, and Grade II listed buildings.
The popular Breeze Up to the Downs bus services which carry passengers to Brighton & Hove’s parks and countryside are gearing up for a busy summer with more buses and new seven-days-a-week services. Breeze up to the Downs services are funded and managed by Brighton & Hove City Council, with contributions from The National Trust and the South Downs National Park Authority.
