Local HIV charity The Sussex Beacon recruits an Executive Director, Bill Puddicombe, to take the charity forward in 2018. Mr Puddicombe has a wealth of experience in the voluntary sector and a track record of securing the future of small and medium-sized charities.
Local HIV charity, The Sussex Beacon is urging people to get tested for HIV during National HIV Testing Week (runs till November 24). The aim of the week is to raise awareness of HIV and promote testing to the most affected population groups in England, men who have sex with men (MSM) and black African men and women.
On October 28, over 160 people donned their most terrifying outfits to take part in the inaugural Halloween Fun Run in Hove, raising over £850 for local HIV charity, The Sussex Beacon. The family friendly event consisted of a 5k run for adults and a mini mile along the prom for the kids. Everyone wore Halloween costumes and there were prizes for the best dressed.
Sussex Beacon charity shops on St James Street and London Road get in the Halloween spirit with a secret auction for a range of weird and wonderful items displayed in their windows.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Rainbow Fund for its donation of £7,500 towards our group work for people living with HIV. The Sussex Beacon’s groups help people manage their health and give them the opportunity to meet others with HIV, share experiences and gain confidence.
A management restructure to save money at the Sussex Beacon, sees both its Chief Executive, Simon Dowe and Clinical Services Director Jason Warriner stepping down from their roles at the charity by mutual agreement with the Board of Trustees.
On Saturday, September 9, HIV charity, The Sussex Beacon held a Summer Fete in its garden on Bevendean Road, Brighton raising £1,829.34 to help people living with HIV. Darth Vader and other Star Wars characters joined the fun as The UK Garrison, one of the leading Star Wars costume groups made an appearance.
On Saturday, September 9 between 11am and 4pm, local HIV charity The Sussex Beacon will be holding the annual Summer Fete in its garden on Bevendean Road, Brighton. Star Wars fans will be able to mingle with the movie characters on the day, as The UK Garrison, one of the leading Star Wars costume groups, will be popping in to join the fun.
Money has been counted and local businesses raised over £4,600 for The Sussex Beacon during Pride week at the beginning of August. The total raised so far is £4675, with a few more donations still to be submitted.
