As part of LGBT History Month, Soul Safari will explores LGBT spirituality at the B Right On LGBT Community Festival (BRO LGBT CF). B Right On celebrates LGBT History Month, is organised by the volunteers of the Brighton & Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum and will take place at the Phil Starr Pavilion – a multi functional, fully accessible, heated performance, conference and community space with a licensed bar which is located on Victoria Gardens, Brighton, BN1 1WN.
The Village Metropolitan Community Church will host a one-off screening of The Shack as part of the Soul Safari day of events during this year’s B RIGHT ON LGBT Festival.
There are many Carol services with amazing choirs in gothic churches all over the city – The Village MCC enjoy doing something different! Last year they held an Open Mic Christmas Eve service filled with music of all kinds. It included beautiful quartets, torch songs, Jazz pieces, original music, a little poetry, and was lots of fun. A celebration well and truly rooted in the LGBT+ communities, and as diverse as you can get.
Rev. Kate Harford, will be the guest preacher at the next Village MCC service on Sunday, November 5. Rev. Kate Harford, a priest of the Metropolitan Community Churches is a chaplain at Oxford Brookes University. She studied archaeology, classics, and classical art at UCL in London and theology at the University of Oxford and was ordained in November 2015.
Finola Brophy, the retiring chair of the Rainbow Chorus will be the guest speaker at The Village Metropolitan Community Church on Sunday October 29. Finola lives in Worthing with her partner of nearly 30 years, Liz, though she spends a lot of time and energy in Brighton committed to improving Brighton and Hove’s LGBT+ voluntary and community sector.
The Village MCC will host Brandon Robertson again as he visits the UK to promote his latest book “Our Witness: The Unheard Stories of LGBT+ Christians”. The event will feature readings from Brandon whose personal story is contained in the book, a presentation about the harm of non-inclusion and the new queer revival spreading throughout Christianity. There will be time for question and answers.
Members of The Village MCC Brighton and Hove (Village MCC) raised £300 for the Peter Tatchell Foundation during Brighton Pride. Peter was the guest speaker at their annual Pride service at the Somerset Day Centre on Sunday, August 6, part of the Pride Voices series of speakers.
