The organisers of Portsmouth Pride announced at the Official Launch Party at Hampshire Boulevard that next year’s Pride event will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2020 in Castle Field, Southsea.

Following the success of Portsmouth Pride last year, organisers have listened to feedback from supporters and created a bigger event in 2016.
Tickets have gone on sale for Portsmouth Pride which returns to Southsea Common for the second year running on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Organisers are promising after a Parade through the city centre, a fun-filled day on Southsea Common packed with live music, entertainment, rides, stalls and bars.
Pride returns to Portsmouth City centre with a parade starting at noon from Guildhall Square. Portsmouth’s first ever Pride Equality Parade will assemble from 11am onwards in Guildhall Square, moving off after a two minutes silence, following the 12 noon chimes, to give everyone the opportunity to remember people across the world, who have suffered from LGBT bigotry and hate crimes.
Portsmouth Pride has been awarded £10,000 by the Big Lottery Fund, which will support the Pride Variety Show on Southsea Common, and street parade in Commercial Road, on Saturday, June 20. “This is fantastic news,” said Portsmouth Pride Chair, David Lee-Bastable. “The costs of putting on a safe event like this are challenging, but we have been overwhelmed by the support shown by local businesses and organisations, and now this generous grant from the Lottery.”
Portsmouth’s first Pride Parade will take place at noon on Saturday, June 20 with a promise to bring colour to Portsmouth City Centre. THE Parade will start and finish in Victoria Park, leaving the park via the entrance next to the Stanhope Road car park, then turning towards the Stanhope Road pedestrian crossing on to Commerical Road and up towards the main shopping area.
At the Jubilee Fountain there will be music and entertainment, then the parade will progress around the fountain, and take the same route back to Victoria Park.
The Pompey Supporters’ Trust and Portsmouth FC have teamed up to back a national campaign to stamp out homophobia in football.
Saturday’s game with Exeter City at Fratton Park has been designated to support the 2015 Football v Homophobia campaign. All the players will be wearing special tee-shirts in the pre-match warm up which Portsmouth Football Club have sponsored.
