Organised by volunteers of the Brighton Swimming Club, the race, which is just over a kilometre, is one of the main swimming events in the Brighton calendar starting at West Pier and ending under Palace Pier.
Saturday, June 26 saw over 30 LGBTQ+ out and proud members of Out to Swim take part in the 84th annual pier to pier race in Brighton.

Over twenty swimmers from Out to Swim South, braved their first sea swim of 2019 in water temperatures of 13c at Hove seafront last month. They were joined by team members from London and a few from the local Salty Birds swimming groups.
Thirty two swimmers competed at the OUT TO SWIM SOUTH (OTSS) Anniversary Gala on October 15 2016 at Roedean School, Brighton.
Eight Out To Swim South (OTSS) swimmers competed at Eastbourne in their annual Masters event, and came away with 12 medals in their first team event together. Even though some of the swimmers were competing for the first time, they achieved some great results. The total medal haul was 5 golds, 3 silver and 4 bronze, an excellent start to the season. More events are planned later in the year.
