Learning Disability Week Brighton culminates with Carousel’s Blue Camel Club at The Old Market, Monday, June 24. STARTED in 2000, the club offers a genuine clubbing experience in a safe and accessible environment for people with a learning disability.
Led by one of Brighton’s popular Drag Queens, Kara Van Park aka Wain Douglas and directed by West End high pedigree performer, Tania Newton, this production is “a joyful, and faithful, representation of the on-going classic musical”.
Saulwick come across like a retro-modern Madame Blavatsky using the vintage recording machinery and snatches of interviews to express her theosophical investigations, the temporary and temporal mashing up to form the present, the past and gone giving us creative material for the now, the reflection looking again at the lost and finding something new in the old, dead and departed. It’s a vivid and interesting concert.
The Martlets Hospice is hosting the South Coast’s only UV Zumba Dance Party on Friday, March 6, at The Old Market, Hove. Zumba Glow is a three-hour glow-in-the-dark dance marathon led by professional Zumba instructors and will be a high-energy, challenging but fun, sponsored event to raise money for patient care at the Martlets Hospice.
Take six Australian hunks and one New Yorker of differing shapes and sizes, add a fierce portion of drag and mischievous masculinity, infuse with dancing, tumbling, juggling, acro-balancing, trapeze, hula hooping, lip syncing, six-inch heels, cover in sequins frocks and glamour, season with wicked wit, a pinch of punk and all-round misbehaviour and let the fun begin. The boys are back in town!
After a sensational sell-out at the Edinburgh Fringe, an award-winning run in Dublin at the International Gay Theatre Festival and an award-winning sell-out run at the Brighton Fringe Festival, the production returns to take part in the Brighton Comedy Festival on October 24 and 25 at 9.30 p.m. at the Old Market Theatre in Hove.
