National Student Pride, in association with Rainbow Migration, platformed a panel of individuals with knowledge and experience of asylum and immigration detention, calling for the audience to use their voices to stop “the government’s dehumanisation of asylum seekers”.
At their Saturday daytime festival, National Student Pride hosted a panel of individuals, each who discussed their journey in their gender identity as well as societal barriers they have faced, with aims to help others overcome theirs.
The awards acknowledge people, from across the UK, who have made significant dedications to improving their communities.
Queering the Air is headed by National Student Pride student committee members Celine Ponio Bagtas and Reagan Spinks, and focuses on platforming less privileged voices within the UK’s LGBTQ+ community
“We’re doing all of this because we believe the UK media industry thrives when it’s bursting with queer talent.”
