Jon would have said that his community was his work team, probably. He had been out as gay for many years, but didn’t socialise or go out to LGBT venues or pubs or clubs. He really wasn’t bothered. His family were spread all over the world, they kept in touch but he wouldn’t have said they were close. He had moved to Brighton three years ago, he lived in a flat and had only ever met one of his neighbours. He wouldn’t have said he was unhappy, depressed from time to time perhaps, but nothing a drink or two wouldn’t take the edge off.
MindOut, the LGBTQ mental health service opened its doors for the new LGBTQ counselling service on October 1, 2017. LGTBQ Counselling at MindOut provides relational counselling, which is not goal orientated, or about telling you what to do.
Tonight’s weekly Quiz (July 20) at the Camelford Arms is being held in conjunction with the co op RESPECT LGBT network to raise funds for MindOut, the LGBT+ mental health service. The Quiz kicks off at 9pm but to guarantee a table you will need to be there early. Brighton based charity MindOut, LGBTQ Mental Health Service has been shortlisted for the UK-wide Charity Governance Awards 2017. The charity is in the running for the Board Diversity and Inclusivity award with a prize of a £5,000 unrestricted grant.
MindOut, the LGBTQ mental health service have been awarded the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark (QPM) for mental health advocacy services. They have been assessed against agreed standards for independent advocacy by the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi).
