The Brighton Bear Weekend (BBW) Quiz at the Camelford Arms last night (June 15) raised a record-breaking £552.67 for the Rainbow Fund. Twenty-two teams battled it out in a packed Camelford Arms to find out who are the brainiest Bears in the city.
When it comes to writing this column, I’m usually awash with ideas until I actually put pen to paper, at which point all those brilliant soundbites and gems of wisdom that have been popping into my head for weeks suddenly seem to desert me! I’m becoming increasingly familiar with writers’ block, and have considerable sympathy for those who depend on writing to make a living. I really don’t think I could take the pressure.

Alternative Pantomime will provide a spectacular Brighton curtain raiser to LGBT History month 2017. In a unique development, this years Alternative Pantomime ‘A Ladd In’ will be staged by the organisers and performers of the Alternative Pantomime, in partnership with the University of Brighton, Brighton & Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum (LGBT CSF) and Gscene Magazine in the Sallis Benney Theatre at the University of Brighton.
The first Golden Handbag of the season went to Charles Street Bar last night when they were crowned the Brainiest Gays (LGBT) in the Village at the Golden Handbag Quiz. Bear Patrol for the third year running came second with the Gscene B team coming in third. The Quiz was hosted by a sparkling Lola Lasagne who described the event as her “favourite gig of the season.”
