MORE than 120,000 visitors from the U.S. and beyond experienced the 42nd annual Pride Fort Lauderdale festival, which took place from Thursday, February 21 through Sunday, February 24 in Greater Fort Lauderdale.
Trans Pride and Pride Fort Lauderdale will be honouring Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a Transgender customer in the Stonewall Inn on the night of the 1969 police raid that sparked the Stonewall Riots (she was knocked unconscious and arrested in the raid) and the birth of the modern LGBT+ rights movement.
Eyewitness to historic Stonewall Riots 50 years ago to be honoured at parade during Fort Lauderdale Pride this month. This years Carnaval-Themed festival will include the first Fort Lauderdale Pride parade ever held on the iconic Fort Lauderdale Beach on Saturday, February. 23.
The ten-day Festival expects to attract more than 350,000 people to Fort Lauderdale and will focus on LGBT+ issues. Greater Fort Lauderdale will be the host destination for the first-ever Pride of the Americas Festival in 2020. The ten-day event, just announced at the International Gay & Lesbian Travel (IGLTA) annual conference in Toronto, will be hosted by Pride of Fort Lauderdale, presented by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and will include a parade, a beach party, arts festival, social events throughout the destination, and a human rights conference focused on LGBT+ rights.
