Flytipper fined £400 for dumping rubbish on Brighton street

A Brighton resident who left piles of rubbish on the pavement near her home is fined a total of £400 for flytipping. Miss Christine Togher, of 66 Saunders Park View, was issued with a fixed penalty notice (FPN) after council environmental enforcement officers caught her dumping empty cardboard boxes, a laundry basket, kids toys, cutlery, a cheese grater, pans and a load of other unwanted junk on the street.

Brighton & Hove flytipping fines double in 2017

Brighton & Hove City Council is one of the most active in the country for tackling flytipping. In figures collected by the Press Association, Brighton & Hove issued 276 fines to flytippers in the 12 months to May 2017, the fifth highest in the country. The council’s updated figures show that 618 fines have been issued to date compared with 196 last financial year.

Suspended jail sentence and fine for flytipper

A flytipper from Brighton has received a suspended jail sentence, a fine and been ordered to do community work after dumping piles of rubbish in the city. Charles ‘Charlie’ Brazil of Ridge View, Coldean pleaded guilty at Brighton Magistrates court on August 2 to flytipping near the Lewes Road rail viaduct last April.  The rubbish included laminate flooring, chipboard underlay and black sacks of waste.

Gardener fined for flytipping green waste

A garden landscaper who flytipped a large quantity of green waste in a Hangleton street has been given a 12 months conditional discharge and a £500 fine by Eastbourne magistrates. Charlie Brazil, 36, of 17 Ridgeview, Coldean, had been cutting back Leylandii at 18 Hangleton Manor Close in July but then left a large quantity of foliage and tree trimmings on the property.
