Current responses to Hate Crime in the UK are failing and letting down victims, says new report entitled Identifying and Dismantling Barriers to Justice. New research by University of Leicester experts highlights the barriers that victims face in accessing justice and identifies ways of overcoming them
A major new study to investigate hate crime in the West Midlands and to shape the development of improved support services for victims is being led by the University of Leicester. The project’s aims are closely aligned with the priorities set out within the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan which are to improve the quality of support offered to hate crime victims and to better understand victims’ needs through the criminal justice system.
Experts in the study of Hate Crime at the University of Leicester describe the recent rise in post-Brexit hate as being “fuelled and legitimised by politicians and by the media.”
