Volunteers from our LGBTQ+ groups – including Lunch Positive, Clare Project, Allsorts and Sussex Beacon – have played a vital role in the pandemic response and have been the lifeblood of communities during an exceptionally difficult couple of years.
HIV hasn’t gone away, nor the complexity of issues that it can present. We’d be doing ourselves and our community a disservice to take the comfortable view that it has.
A Community Works’ representative will help to ensure that the HIV community is involved in plans for the city to work towards becoming the first UK city to reduce HIV to zero. The Council’s Health & Wellbeing Board have agreed to work towards the goal of zero new HIV infections, zero HIV related deaths, and zero HIV stigma in Brighton and Hove.

The LGBT Small Groups network is a grouping of smaller local LGBT/HIV groups. The network meets quarterly throughout the year to build connections, provide opportunities for collaboration and partnership, and support capacity building in small groups.
Community Works an organisation that helps people looking to volunteer, and organisations looking for volunteers, find each other have organised an event tomorrow, June 3 2015 to celebrate the difference volunteers make to the city. If volunteers were paid the living wage for their work in Brighton and Hove, then their donated time would be worth £44 million, every year.
