The film is engaging and interesting without being preachy and using this young couple’s obvious and romantic personal experiences and relationship as the main narrative thrust allows us to keep the focus on them, and the daily struggle they face and the struggle they have to marry – something the rest of British society takes for granted. I left with the image of Owl’s mother & father in my mind; rugged landscape behind them, ruddy cheeked, giddy with pride and smiling with joy as they spoke of their love for their child and although not erasing the struggle or pain, they infused me with the hope that the world is slowly getting better for all of us.
Brighton University holds its Annual Brighton Trans and Non-Binary Conference on July 20, to take place alongside Brighton Trans Pride. Conference organisers invite trans and non-binary people; researchers; people from the public, community and voluntary sector, and those who want to know more about trans lives and trans issues to the 2017 conference.

Last night about 180 people attended a Vigil at the Old Steine, organised by the LGBT Q university societies from Sussex and Brighton Universities. Students from both universities, young people and allies held a moving vigil for the dead of Orlando massacre.
University of Brighton alumna and transgender role model Paris Lees has been named Young Campaigning Journalist of the Year. The writer, TV personality and transgender activist was presented with her gold award at a gala even organised by MHP Communications. Paris was one of the winners of MHP’s 30 to Watch 2015, an annual awards ceremony which recognises up and coming media talent.
