The newly formed Community Safety Guardians Initiative is now up and running with regular patrols on St James Street between 10pm and 4am by SIA registered professionals.
Following a spate of vicious late night attacks in and around St James Street targeting members of the LGBT+ communities – the Brighton & Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum cancelled their scheduled AGM to have an emergency public meeting to allow people to ask questions of the police.

Brighton and Hove marked IDAHOBiT day this evening with an event in New Steine Gardens attended by more than 150 people. THE format from previous years IDAHOBiT events in Brighton and Hove of speeches from politicians and local LGBT organisations was replaced this year with performances from The Rainbow Chorus who were on top form, singer guitarists Son Son and A.J.Paterson and poet, Alice Denny who captivated the audience with her poems. Billie Lewis the chair of the Brighton and Hove LGBT Community in his opening remarks told those present to lobby their local politicians and councillors to make sure that they keep LGBT issues at the top of the local agenda.
A community survey to test and establish the levels of trust and confidence in the Police and Council is now live. The LGBT Community Safety Forum is an elected, independent group of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people in Brighton and Hove. The group aims to ensure effective accountability between the LGBT communities of Brighton and Hove and the statutory authorities, including Sussex Police and Brighton and Hove City Council.
