Pride returns to Worthing on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9 at the new home of Steyne Gardens following a lengthy but successful licensing application process.
On the Friday night, Five, Liberty X, N-Trance, Baby D and Janice Robinson – the original vocalist from Livin’ Joy best known for the huge ’90s hit Dreamer – take to the main stage from 6pm, bringing the very best pop and dance anthems.
Gary Richardson, Creative Director said: “Worthing has some fantastic live music events in the town. I’m a big believer that the town deserves the ‘real deal’. I am so excited to bring the biggest boy and girl band of the ’90s to Pride this year and really put Worthing on the map as one of the best local Prides the UK has to offer.”
The Saturday will see the free Pride Walking Parade return, where everyone is invited to the Prom to see some of the best local businesses and community groups support the fabulous Pride March. The Parade will start outside the Burlington Hotel at 11am, heading east towards Steyne Gardens and arriving at 12pm ready for the gates of the park to open.
Live music in the park on Saturday, which starts at 1pm, is headlined by Duncan James from boyband Blue. He will be hosting the main stage in the evening before giving an exclusive live performance to close this year’s Pride. The main stage will also feature: street dance duo Twist and Pulse, ’80s pop superstar Betty Boo, Sam and the Womp! and Geordie Shore and X-Factor star Amelia Lily.
If this isn’t enough, Pride will also bring some of the biggest stars from the UK and world drag circuit, including: Elektra Fence (Drag Race UK S3), Crystal (Drag Race UK S1), Danny Beard (X-Factor), Queenz (Walk the Line), and Worthing artists Cherry Liquor, Norvina Michaels and Jason Lee.
Michael Hall, Director of Worthing Pride, said: ‘After 17 months’ hard planning from the team we are so pleased the plans for 2022 have been approved. We have a fantastic working relationship with the council and our previous events have shown a real safe, family friendly event for the residents of Worthing.
“We estimate that over the next four years Pride in Worthing will generate over £1million in revenue towards the local economy while supporting local LGBTQ+ charities.”
