Trans Secret Santa UK has kicked off its 2024 Christmas gifting campaign to raise funds to deliver festive gift parcels to trans youth across the UK. Building on the success of last year’s initiative which saw almost 700 gift packages distributed, this year’s campaign aims to reach even more young trans people, ensuring they feel celebrated and supported during the Christmas season.
In partnership with community-focused organisations and the support of apparel platform Everpress, Trans Secret Santa UK will once again bring together volunteers, LGBTQ+ advocates, and allies to support trans children and young people who may otherwise feel isolated during this time of year. Funds raised through the campaign will go toward carefully selected gift parcels, each accompanied by a Christmas card featuring messages of love and encouragement from prominent trans figures.
This year’s campaign features Trans Youth You are Loved merchandise designed by artist Mister Samo, as well as Support and Uplift Trans Youth and Queer Utopia designs from Az Franco. This year also features celebrity fundraising designs from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK queens Banksie and Charity Kase, as well as Married at First Site UK’s first trans bride Ella Morgan.
Proceeds from every sale are going to the community fund to buy gifts, with more than 300 members of the youth trans+ community already signed up to receive a gift. Supporters are also being invited to donate as well as wearing their support!
The campaign has also been backed by Michelle Visage, Drag Race UK’s Cara Melle, Emmerdale’s Matty Barton, actor Ash Palmisciano and activist Maxine Heron.
Lizzie Jordan, co-founder of Trans Secret Santa UK, reflected on the importance of the campaign, saying: “The holiday season can be a difficult time for many LGBTQ+ youth, especially those in the trans community who may feel marginalised. Our goal is to bring some light into their lives, to remind them they are seen, valued, and loved. We’re excited to be expanding our reach this year and are grateful for the generosity of all who make this possible.”
A 2023 gift recipient shared the impact of the programme added: “Receiving a gift from Trans Secret Santa meant the world to me. It wasn’t just the present but knowing there are people out there who truly care. The card and message made me feel like I belong, and that is the best gift anyone could give.”
Simon Backhouse, CEO of Everpress stated: “We are thrilled to support Trans Secret Santa UK this year. This initiative doesn’t just bring gifts; it brings visibility, kindness, and community to trans young people across the country. Being part of a project that brings joy and hope to those who may feel isolated, especially during the holiday season, is something we believe deeply in.”
