Think2Speak, the LGBTQ+ youth organisation, has teamed up with trans campaigner Jude Guaitamacchi in collaboration with trans artist Mister Samo and their patron Octavian Starr to spread Christmas cheer to trans youth across the country. Inspired by Trans Santa in the US, this heart-warming campaign aims to bring joy to young trans people and to show them how much they are loved.
The charity has launched a Crowdfunder, which will help fund secret gift bundles posted out with Christmas cards by Mister Samo. The more money raised, the more parcels Think2Speak will be able to give out. All Trans Santa requests must be made before December 17.
Jude Guaitamacchi said: “Spending time on a residential with Think2Speak recently, I saw the impact of giving trans youth hope that they can grow up and thrive. They are surrounded by so much negativity and as an activist and campaigner I realised the importance of spreading some much needed positivity. This Christmas I just want young trans people to have a moment of joy.”
Across the UK and around the globe, young trans individuals, especially those from Black and Brown communities, are enduring increased hostility and adversity. Recognising the urgent need for solidarity and support, Think2Speak is rallying communities to show these resilient youth that they are cherished, valued, and part of an extended global family that champions their success.
The charity wants to show trans young people that they are loved, supported, and have a family of people around the world who care about them and want them to succeed.
The Trans Santa initiative started in the US and invites individuals from all walks of life to become Santas by participating in this celebration of trans magic and beauty. This year they were unable to run the initiative outside of the US and Canada so we have created some Santa magic to young trans people in the UK.
By joining this movement, anyone can contribute to spreading joy, love, and a sense of belonging to young trans individuals who may feel isolated or marginalised. Think2Speak encourages participation from all individuals, organisations, and communities who believe in the importance of supporting and uplifting trans youth. Together, they aim to create a network of unwavering support and solidarity that transcends geographical boundaries.
