Brighton & Hove to come together on Sunday, November 19 for Transgender Day of Remembrance

Graham Robson November 9, 2023

Brighton & Hove trans communities and allies are invited to come together at the Ledward Centre in Brighton on Sunday, November 19, 11.30 – 2.30pm, for Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Brighton & Hove’s Trans Day of Remembrance 2023 is an opportunity to remember trans community members who have died over the past year. On the day there will be speakers and performances in Jubilee Square, alongside a digital name ritual, and community lunch from within the Ledward Centre, 14a Jubilee St, Brighton BN1 1GE.

This is a grassroots event organised collaboratively by some of Brighton & Hove trans/TNBI groups (The Clare Project, Trans Pride Brighton & Hove, Trans Sober, Navigate) and support from allied LGBTQ+ organisations/networks (Ledward Centre and BHCC LGBT Staff Network).

The Clare Project say: “The gathering welcomes both community members and allies. We ask politely that you do not attend on behalf of/representing an organisation, including police and/or media, out of respect for our community and those who have died. There will be an experienced BSL interpreter on the day and there will also be a live stream of the speakers/performances so people can watch from home.”

If you would like to volunteer on the day, sign up by Sunday, November 12. For any enquiries, email august.reid@clareproject.org.uk
