Trans Can Sport, the organisation dedicated to transforming the wellbeing of trans and non-binary people through physical activity, has announced its new mindfulness programme created especially for trans, non-binary and gender variant people. Dropping everyday on YouTube throughout Trans Awareness Week, the series will help teach people how to bring moments of compassion and calm to their lives.
Trans Can Sport said: “Mindfulness is being aware of what is happening in the moment, without judgement. It is a wonderful form of meditation, with a focus on compassion and kindness.”
The series is led by Josetta (they/them) a yoga and mindfulness facilitator and an equity, diversity and inclusion trainer. Speaking on the release of these recordings, Josetta said: ”We try out some mindfulness meditation techniques to learn how to be in the present moment.
“This is incredibly helpful in stressful times when it is so easy to worry about the past, the future, or to be pre-occupied with unhelpful thoughts. We don’t push the thoughts away, but learn how to let them pass by without getting drawn in.”
There are numerous benefits to this practice including improved mental and physical health issues, pain management and stress relief. Mindfulness meditation gives us a sense of peace, calm, improves focus, concentration and our relationship with ourselves and others.
Josetta goes on to say: “Aside from the body scan, we usually do these practices with the eyes open, and the gaze relaxed and down. See what works for you.”
Anyone can access the series and benefit from the guidance Josetta provides.
