Hugh Robertson MP, the Minister for Sport and Tourism will be visiting Brighton on Tuesday, October 8.
He will be visiting the Amex Stadium in the morning to meet representatives from Brighton and Hove Albion FC, followed by a round table discussion in one of the conference rooms at the stadium, on the subject of tourism in the city.
Simon Kirby MP for Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven, who is the Private Parliamentary Secretary (PPS) to Mr Robertson, has invited representatives from Brighton’s leisure and tourism industry to attend the round table, where they will have the opportunity to discuss this vital sector with the Minister.
Simon said:
“Both sport and tourism are incredibly important to Brighton, and in my role as PPS to Hugh Robertson I have been able to forge a close relationship with the Minister responsible for both areas. I am delighted that he has accepted my invitation to come to Brighton to meet with key figures from the industry which contributes over £1billion to the local economy.
“This is a great opportunity for local representatives to meet with the Minister and raise issues and concerns relating to the tourism sector in Brighton. I know from speaking with many of them that there has been a great deal of concern over Labour’s proposed tourism tax, as well as some of the anti-business policies adopted by the Green administration on the council. I am looking forward to a constructive discussion.”
