You know you’ve become an icon when a hashtag is created in your name. This is very much the case with Jill Nalder, the inspiration behind hit TV series It’s A Sin, who is also a patron of Brighton-based HIV charity the Sussex Beacon. With this in mind, the charity has launched a major community campaign, featuring the hashtag #BeMoreJill.
The Sussex Beacon is inviting individual members of the community, as well as businesses locally and indeed across the UK, to #BeMoreJill. Bill Puddicombe, Executive Director of the Sussex Beacon, commented “As we saw in It’s A Sin, our patron Jill Nalder is a caring, compassionate campaigner. We’d like to invite others to demonstrate these admirable qualities by engaging in fun, exciting fundraising activities, in the knowledge they’ll not only help us continue our vital work, but also receive some fantastic rewards.”
Suggestions for members of the public include organising or participating in challenge/ fundraising events and volunteering in the Sussex Beacon shops in London Road and St James’s Street, but all ideas are welcome. Rewards will include Team Beacon Hero medals, tickets for the Sussex Beacon comedy nights and more.
Businesses participating in the campaign will have the opportunity to earn themselves a table at one of the popular Sussex Beacon comedy nights, a major gala event featuring The WestEnders (world famous musical theatre group) including a ‘meet & greet’ with Jill Nalder and another major headliner, social media coverage and potentially even a video endorsement by Jill.
