Black Country Fusion FC, the first LGBT+ friendly football team in the Midlands, has been awarded with Project of the Year for 2019 in Staffordshire FA’s annual Grassroots Awards.
THE award, which will be presented to Black Country Fusion at their evening training session on Thursday, July 4, is in recognition of the great work they do on equality and inclusion in Carling’s Made Local campaign, which is all about championing and supporting people who are making a positive impact in their hometown.
Proud trans woman and chairwoman of Black Country Fusion FC, Skye Stewart said: “Black Country Fusion FC was built on the values of inclusiveness and we welcome anyone from any background to join. We are proud to be working with Carling this season to tell our story and continue raising our profile.
“We’re having a great season on the pitch, sitting in the top half of the table. We hope the local community appreciate our new kits and continue coming down to show their support for the team.”
