Baby, we’re back! Date set for Pride in Hull 2020

Yorkshire’s premier purveyor of rainbows return for 2020!

Save the date for one of the most colourful day of the year: Pride in Hull will be back on July 25, 2020 – with pop icon Louise and RuPaul’s DragRace UK finalist Divina De Campo the first big-name acts to be revealed.

Pride in Hull, the free and inclusive one-day celebration of the LGBT+ community, will be returning to Queens Gardens for its 19th outing on July 25 with a line-up that once again features something for everyone.

More than 50,000 people of all ages attended Pride in Hull in 2019, with performances from stars including DragRace’s Alaska 5000, Steps star Claire Richards and girl group Honeyz as well as a rainbow-studded parade through the city centre – cementing its reputation as the largest event of its kind in the region.

Since then, the volunteer team responsible for making the event happen have been beavering away behind the scenes to create this year’s event, and the organisers are excited about what’s in store.

Pride in Hull Chair, Matt Walton, said: “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes since 2019 to keep raising funds, grow our team of volunteers, and start booking the kind of acts that will bring something for everyone come July 25. Get it in your diary now because we want to see you there – it’s going to be amazing!

“We’re especially excited to get Louise on board – she’s renowned for putting on a superb live performance.

“We’re also super excited to be welcoming Divina De Campo from just down the road. Viewers of DragRace UK absolutely fell in love with the Yorkshire queen and we can’t wait to give her a warm Hull welcome in Queens Gardens .”

Councillor Stephen Brady, leader of Hull City Council, welcomed confirmation of this year’s event. He said: “Hull has always been a place of acceptance, proudly promoting equality and inclusivity. Pride in Hull has grown into one of the country’s biggest celebrations of the LGBT+ community, which is testament to the incredible work of the Pride team who work tirelessly, all year round, as well as the support of the city, with tens of thousands of people attending every year.

“In recent years Pride in Hull has taken place in Queens Gardens, showing the fantastic potential of this green city centre space. A key element of the £4.3m refurbishment of the gardens, that will begin later this year, is that it will offer a more functional, modern and appealing space for large events such as Pride.”
