DJs Lee Harris and Alex Baker are going Sober for October to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
ALEX AND LEE ARE Club Revenge’s main floor weekend residents for Friday and Saturday respectively.
During October, they’re living a teetotal life for 31 days, a difficult task as they work in one of the biggest LGBT nightclubs in the country, surrounded by people enjoying themselves and having a drink!
Alex’s mother was late diagnosed with bowel cancer when he was at university as an undergraduate. Thanks to the care of the Royal Marsden Hospital and her own willpower, she’s still here today and has passed the crucial ‘five years clear’ milestone.
Alex is now back at university, this time studying for an MA at the University of Sussex. He decided he’d like to raise money and give something back to the cancer care community… and let’s face it, it’s easier to study without a hangover!
The DJs are encouraging people who visit the club or enjoy listening to their podcasts to make a donation to the Go Sober cause rather than buying them a drink this month!
The sobriety campaign runs until October 31st (Hallowe’en) which will also be the start of the Revenge X-Factor season, when the finalists from the live shows perform at Revenge each Friday after their Sunday elimination.
At midnight on the 31st, they’ll both be celebrating finishing the challenge and are hoping to break the £1.000 mark between the two of them.
You can keep track of their progress via their Facebook pages, where they’ll be keeping a brief diary of the challenges (and hopefully successes) of going sober.
