Seahaven Pride, which was to bring LGBTQ+ diversity and inclusion to the south coast this weekend with local HIV charity Lunch Positive, Actually Gay Men’s Chorus and lashings of LGBTQ+ talent, has been cancelled due to adverse weather.

Writing on Facebook, organisers said: “It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of Seahaven Pride 2024. Sadly, the weather is very much against us with extremely high winds forecast for our build day and the morning of the event.

“Our event production company’s health and safety manager has advised that it is not safe to build the stage or to kit out with all the equipment and roofing, or to deploy fencing and other infrastructure in time for the event to delivered successfully.

“The risk to the safety of our partners, artists, traders, volunteers and attendees is paramount.

“As a small team of volunteer organisers, we are absolutely devestated. We would like to thank everybody who has worked tirelessly together on the event, and to our supporters who bought tickets or supported in other ways.

“We look forward to seeing you at Seahaven Pride 2025.”

If you have purhcased a ticket, these can be rolled over to next year’s event or you can donate your 2024 ticket back to Seahaven Pride, whhich is a not-for-profit organisation.

Responding on Facebook, Actually Gay Men’s Chorus, which was due to perform at the event, wrote: “We’re all so gutted and sorry we won’t be able to help celebrate Seahaven Pride Family Festival with you, not to mention how sad for you and your team we are. We appreciate all your efforts to bring this fun, friendly and uplifting event that raises up the local LGBTQ+ community and all its allies. We are already excited for next year and will be back with a bang!”
