Brighton & Hove Pride, one of the biggest calendar events of the year, takes place from Friday 2–Sunday, 4 August. With celebrations taking place all over the city, Brighton & Hove Buses has launched special Pride timetables for the weekend, with shuttle buses operating between Preston Park, Old Steine and Waterhall Campsite.
Brighton & Hove Buses, “proud partners” of Brighton & Hove Pride and platinum partners of City Angels, will be joining the parade again with Switchboard, who provide crucial support to the LGBTQ+ community, and Regency Radio who will be broadcasting live. Other special guests include representatives from Eastbourne Pride, Crawley Pride and Seahaven Pride and the family of the late George Montague who was best known locally as the ‘oldest gay in the village’.
As in previous years, a second bus for Brighton & Hove Buses LGBTQ+ colleagues will also be in the parade, along with the Diversity Bus which will be parked near the Peace Statue. This bus will serve as a viewing platform in partnership with mASCot, offering a safe and quiet space for families and children with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). The bus will then go on to serve as one of the shuttle buses transporting people to the celebrations in Preston Park.
Pride timetables have been put into place to help residents and visitors get around and into the city, while shuttle bus services (routes 500 and 600) will operate to and from Preston Park, the Old Steine and Waterhall Campsite. Pride timetables and information about shuttle services can be found here.
Bus users can also download the Brighton & Hove Buses travel app and get live bus information, service updates and the opportunity to purchase tickets, or use contactless which is available on all buses.
Ed Wills, Managing Director at Brighton & Hove Buses, said: “Brighton & Hove Pride is hugely important to our community, and we are thrilled to play our part in making sure people can travel safely to and from the event. We want everyone to have a fantastic time, which is why we’re putting on special services between Preston Park, the Old Steine and Waterhall Campsite. We highly recommend that people plan their journeys and allow plenty of time to get home.”
Paul Hook, Brighton & Hove LGBT Switchboard Chief Executive, added: “We’re delighted to once again join Brighton & Hove buses to mark Brighton Pride. The annual parade is an important focus for the LGBTQ+ population and for the city as a whole; and provides us an opportunity to celebrate Pride and remind people of the support, advice and information we offer to our community.”

It is highly recommended that people check timetables and plan their journeys well in advance of the event.
