Brighton & Hove Buses returns to Brighton & Hove Pride 2023 in partnership with Switchboard

Graham Robson August 8, 2023

Brighton & Hove Buses, partner of Brighton & Hove Pride and platinum partner of Pride City Angels, showed their support once again for Pride celebrations this year with three special buses, two of which were featured in the parade itself.

The first bus was led by LGBTQ+ colleagues at the company who gathered to join in the Pride celebrations. The second bus, in partnership with Switchboard, from which Regency Radio were broadcasting live, hosted several special guests including Somchai Phukkhai, husband to the late George Montague or ‘The Oldest Gay in the Village’ as he was more affectionately known. This year would have marked George’s 100th birthday.

The third bus, the Diversity bus, was parked near the Peace Statue and served as a viewing platform in partnership with mASCot and Brighton & Hove Pride, offering a safe and quiet space for families who have a child or children with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). The bus then went on to serve as one of the shuttle buses transporting people to the celebrations in Preston Park.

Ed Wills, Managing Director at Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus, said: “We are huge supporters of Brighton & Hove Pride.

“The event is hugely important to our community, and we are committed to supporting LGBTQ+ colleagues within our organisation, as well helping make sure people can travel safely during the celebrations. It was a privilege to celebrate with such esteemed guests from the community, and we hope everyone enjoyed their Pride.”
