Where Pride organisations will typically hop on a bus to visit each town, Pride in Gloucestershire will be the first Pride in the UK to host a series of mini Pride events at each location in its county.
As well as the main Pride event taking place on Saturday, September 10 in Gloucester Park, the charity will be hosting four mini events in the build up to their main Pride event.
Cheltenham will be the first to kick off the series of mini events, with Pride in the Park taking place in Pittville Park on Sunday, May 15. On the day, there will also be a dog show sponsored by Doggy Baking Co where all attendees are encouraged to bring along their four-legged friends to the park.
Pride in the Cotswolds will be the next event held after Cheltenham, taking place on Sunday, June 12 at Cirencester’s Abbey Grounds. This will also be the UK’s first all-vegan Pride event to take place, with all food outlets being vegan friendly.
Sunday, July 17 will be the Forest of Dean’s event held in The Triangle in Cinderford and lastly, Pride in the Hall will be hosted in Tewkesbury’s Watson Hall on Sunday, August 7.
Anya McKenna, Pride in Gloucestershire’s Marketing and Communications Director, said: “Expect great company, yummy food and fabulous entertainment!
“Each of our events will be slightly different and unique to each location we’re hosting in, so be sure to keep an eye out on our socials to see what’s to come.”
Samantha Neath, Head of Diversity and Inclusion for Pride in Gloucestershire, also commented on the charity’s first summer tour: “We believe this Pride on Tour event is fundamental in breaking down the barriers and reaching potentially isolated members of our community, who may not be able to access the wider LGBTQ+ community of Gloucestershire.
“To hear that we are the first Pride in the UK to organise this kind of series of Pride on Tour events is a huge honour and we hope it will encourage other Pride organisations to do the same in the future.”
The team at Pride in Gloucestershire are also on the lookout for sponsors for their series of events and any business interested should contact Pride in Gloucestershire at info@prideinglos.org.uk.
