Bar 7 Crawley, the town’s only gay bar, has revealed on Facebook that recent planning permission puts the venue at risk.
In a statement, they say:
“As Crawley’s one and only gay bar, we pride ourselves on being a venue that supports the rights and inclusivity of our guests that form our LGBTQ+ community and our allies.
“Recent planning permission upon our venue puts our safe place at risk. We still do not know if this is going to be approved or rejected, so here we are asking for everyone’s help in saving our venue.
“The decision by the council has now been delayed until after Crawley Pride, which we are proud supporters and allies of.
By saving our venue we can continue to provide a safe space that people can enjoy no matter what your identification is, your sexuality or your pronoun.
“Sign our petition today and show your support and share our solidarity in saving the only LGBTQ+ bar in Crawley. It can also help us if we have to potentially find a new venue in applications to Crawley Council.”
