To mark their 45th year Switchboard have started to dig into their archives, looking through the call logs (anonymous handwritten notes kept by volunteers documenting calls and notes) which date back to the late 1970s.
LGBTQ History Club Presents: “The Lavender Line” – Switchboard archive: 45 years of listening
In this event, presented in conjunction with Queer in Brighton come listen to Natasha Walker from Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline in London who’s been working with their archives to produce a wonderful podcast called The Log Books, bringing their call logs to life and contextualising the calls within significant moments in LGBTQ history.
Both organisations will share stories which have come to light through their investigations, talk of the ethics of sharing personal histories, the process of cataloguing, how they extract content and compare where they both are regarding this process.
LGBTQ History Club is open to all and free to attend, but please book a ticket as capacity is limited.
