Grab your clippers and take on HIV/ sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust‘s Big Shave Off to raise vital funds to support people impacted by HIV today, tomorrow and into the future.
Taking part is simple!
- Sign up to the Big Shave Off.
- Ask friends and family to sponsor you.
- Shave your head, chest, legs or beard.
You can even raise the stakes by hosting a ‘shave it or save it’ challenge. Will your friends and family donate more for you to Shave or Save? It all comes down to the day of your challenge!
If shaving isn’t for you, you can challenge yourself to dye your hair a crazy colour, create a crazy hair-do, or even grow your hair as long as you can.
Once you’ve signed up, Terrence Higgins Trust’s fundraising team will support you every step of the way.
Lynne Short, a Dundee councillor who took part in the Big Shave Off last year, raising over £2,000 in the process, said: “I saw the Big Shave Off on Facebook, a challenge to raise as much money as possible to help people affected by HIV, and thought I’d take it on!
“I’m old enough to remember the 1980s, and the Government and media victimising those who had HIV. We can’t allow things to slide back in that direction. It’s only by being aware, supportive and remembering how far we have come that we can hold onto hard-won rights.
“My top tip for fundraising is don’t stop! Keep asking for donations when you have done the shave as people are always generous on the day itself and afterwards.
“If you can, invite the local press to join you with a camera to film it all for added impact for fundraising or stream it live over Instagram or Facebook.”
