Nominees will then be whittled down to a shortlist and an eventual winner by a panel of independent community judges.
The inaugural ceremony, which launched in 2023, honoured LGBTQ+ charities, organisations and people across 10 categories. Awards were handed out at the glamorous ceremony, with performances from top 10 selling artist Raye, a set from DJ dance-legend Sigala, and a show stopping performance from Danny Beard, winner of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK (Season 4).
Amongst the 2023 Winners were Trans Pride Brighton for Grassroots Pride of the Year; a joint award for Major Pride of the Year that went to Manchester Pride, Birmingham Pride, Brighton & Hove Pride and Pride in London; and George House Trust for Charity of the Year.
Gaydio was also proud to present Music Artist of the Year to up-and-coming black, lesbian musician, Cat Burns and the Lifetime Achievement award to human rights campaigner, Peter Tatchell.
Kriss Herbert, Network Content Director at Gaydio, said: “We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Gaydio Pride Awards with Hilton in 2024 – Gaydio is the UK’s LGBTQ+ Station and its important to us that we recognise the fantastic achievements of the people, events, organisations and charities who work so hard to support the LGBTQ+ community across the UK.
“We know supporting the LGBTQ+ community is paramount to Hilton’s mission which is why we are proud to welcome them back as our Headline Partner for the second year running. “Nominations are now open to the public, to celebrate those who have made a difference, inspired change, and those who make a positive impact on the lives of LGBTQ+ people – all year round!” Similar to last year’s event, the glitzy ceremony at the Hilton in Manchester promises to host a hoard of famous faces as guests and performers on the night.
