The fabulous Vicky Vivacious has entered the Werk Room for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
Vicki has been an amazing advocate for Terrence Higgins Trust over the years by being the face of National HIV Testing Week as well as the charity’s Hot Summer campaign. In previous years, we’ve seen Tayce, Charity Kase and Cheddar Gorgeous use their platform to raise awareness of HIV and sexual health on the show and afterwards, and can’t wait to see the important conversations that Vicky inspires!
Richard Angell, Chief Executive at Terrence Higgins Trust, said: “It’s incredible to see our dedicated supporter Vicky Vivacious on Drag Race UK. She’s been an amazing advocate over the years by being the face of National HIV Testing Week as well as our Hot Summer campaign.
“We’re delighted that Drag Race UK stars have taken a leading role in HIV and sexual health advocacy and used their platform to discuss the issues that matter to LGBTQ+ communities. Discussions in the Werk Room from Charity Kase and Cheddar Gorgeous have been fundamental in changing negative attitudes towards HIV, PrEP and educating millions of viewers around the world on the advancements we’ve made, including the fact that people on effective HIV treatment can’t pass it on.
“Since leaving the show, both queens have continued shouting about the reality of HIV today and fighting for progress, with Charity Kase supporting out work to end new cases of HIV by 2030 and Cheddar raffling their iconic ‘pink triangle’ look to raise vital funds for Terrence Higgins Trust and George House Trust.
“Tayce’s frank discussion in her confessionals about the shame surrounding STIs had a huge impact in tackling stigma and taboos around sexual health. The more we talk about it, the more normalised these conversations become – that’s why it was fantastic to see Tayce own her story and turn it into an educational moment to empower others to open up about sexual health.”
