The Brighton and Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum is hosting LGBT Hustings ahead of this year’s elections in May.
It is your chance to question the candidates on their records, why they should be re-elected, why you should vote for them and importantly, what positions they have taken since the last elections on issues affecting the LGBT community here in Brighton and Hove, nationally and internationally.
Simon Kirby, the sitting Conservative MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, Caroline Lucas, the sitting Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, Peter Kyle, the Labour parliamentary candidate for Hove and Portslade and Paul Chandler, the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven have all confirmed their attendance.
The hustings for the local elections will be held at the Queens Hotel, 1-3 King’s Rd, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1NS, on Tuesday, April 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.
This will be your opportunity to ask questions of your local ward councillors on local issues.
Both hustings will be independently chaired by Chris Gull, the chair of the Rainbow Fund.
Both hustings are organised by the Brighton and Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum as part of the LGBT Community Groups Network calendar of events, and are open to candidates of all political parties after they declare their intention to stand after April 9.
