The ‘Village’ Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) in Brighton & Hove has announced that from 3 March they will be moving to LGBTQ+ community centre, the Ledward Centre, for their weekly events.
For the last few years, ‘Village’ MCC has been welcomed at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church, with whom they will continue to work closely. They say: “Dorset Gardens was one of, if not the first church in Brighton to be licensed to hold same-sex marriages. We thank them for the warm welcome and hospitality they have afforded us during our time there.”
‘Village’ MCC, which was formed in 2014, said: “As LGBTQ+ people, friends and allies, we have a vision of a Church that truly reflects the diversity of all our lives, and is a celebration of our lives as people created, loved and affirmed by God.
Sunday meetings from 3 March:
Every Sunday evening will be slightly different, but nevertheless held at the Ledward Centre.
1st Sunday of the month, 6pm: Traditional style blended worship service with open communion and a scripture-based message.
2nd Sunday of the month, 6pm: ‘Taize’ and faith conversations. A gentle start with ‘Taize’, followed by a faith discussion (to be released as a monthly podcast).
3rd Sunday of the month, 6pm: A freestyle evangelical flavoured service led by Deacons Will and Mark. Open prayers and communion, praise and worship music.
4th Sunday of the month, 5-8pm with food served at 6pm: A shared meal with games and conversation. A social evening but with pastor and deacons available for support and prayer.
5th Sunday of the month: TBA.
Rev Michael Hydes, Pastor of ‘Village’ MCC, said; “I’m excited, and scared! Dorset Gardens has been our home post-covid, and without their very kind support I know we would have really struggled to find our feet. They have gifted us with a good foundation on which to build, and I’m excited to see what God has in store for us next. Looking forward to seeing you soon at the Ledward Centre!”
The Ledward Centre is at 14a Jubilee St, Brighton BN1 1GE
