Simon Webster Hair on Gardner Street in Brighton has launched a Pay It Forward campaign to support Brighton Women’s Centre. The initiative is very simple; people can donate £10 by adding it to their bill or purchasing a Pay it Forward voucher online, Simon Webster Hair matches it, and donates a blow-dry service and in-salon pamper to Brighton Women’s Centre. The salon then allocates the complimentary blow-dries to the vulnerable women and self-identifying that they are supporting, to provide an opportunity to for a bit of self-care and normality in what can be very traumatic or unsettling times.
Sophie Webster, Co-Founder of Simon Webster Hair, said: “We have worked with Brighton Women’s Centre several times over the years and they do extremely important work within the community but don’t get as much recognition as we think they deserve. We regularly support local charities but we developed this initiative as a way we can give something back to our community on an ongoing basis and get our clients involved too, whilst raising awareness of Brighton Women’s Centre and all they do.
“We have only just launched Simon Webster Hair Pay It Forward and although it has gained interest from our clients, it’s not solely limited to them. Anyone can go online or pop into the salon to donate a blow-dry (or similar service) to Brighton Women’s Centre. But as a small independent business, our reach is limited and we really want to make this campaign a great success and provide as many women as we can with some complimentary time in-salon. Especially at this time of year when hardships can feel so much more magnified.”
