Norman Cook, Brighton’s own superstar DJ Fatboy Slim, backs Martlets to complete work on new Hospice and keep caring Right Here, Right Now

Graham Robson August 1, 2023

Norman Cook, Brighton’s own superstar DJ Fatboy Slim, is backing local charity Martlets to complete the work on their new Hospice building and keep caring Right Here, Right Now.

Postcards featuring his handwritten, heartfelt message to people in the city have been hitting doormats this week.

His support comes as Martlets CEO Claire Irving issued an open letter to the community, asking them to stand with Martlets through the cost-of-living crisis and lend their support.

Norman Cook says: “I’ve seen up close just how incredible the care is that Martlets provides and I’ve felt the difference this has made to me and the people I love, like hundreds of local families do every year.

“Please join me in making sure our community has a Hospice home fit for generations to come and donate to the moving story appeal.”

Claire Irving, CEO at Martlets, adds, “We are so proud to have served our community for over 26  years and we are just a couple of months away from being able to share our incredible, newly updated Hospice home in Hove with you all.

“We know that it’s tough out there for our supporters, and we understand that rising bills impact on us all. But with one big push this summer, we’ll have an incredible facility fit for the future, to help us keep caring now and for years to come.

“Our open letter to everyone across the 34 square miles we serve, from Portslade to Newhaven, is a rallying call to the people who have helped us get here, the people who know our care and those who may one day need us to stand alongside them. Please stand with us now and let’s look together towards a bright future our community.”
