Grassroots HIV charity Lunch Positive has launched its Winter Support Project, helping people living with HIV in Brighton & Hove face the additional challenges felt by many throughout the winter months.
In addition to the regular face-to-face gatherings; social, peer and specialist support provided at the Tuesday Warm Hub drop-in and Friday lunch club, the Winter Support Project also brings extra food support. Lunch Positive volunteers will help people by providing delivered food parcels and meals to reheat for people who are isolated at home and unable to get out, and ‘welcome home’ food parcels for people leaving hospital who do do not have support at home.
The charity has added more befrienders to the volunteer team who will help people stay connected at times when they would otherwise be isolated or feel lonely. Linking with other organisations and support workers, Lunch Positive will also be providing access to warm home and energy advice, and help people in heating crisis.
