Brighton & Hove Rainbow Run raises £6,000 for Brighton Rainbow Fund

Graham Robson September 4, 2024

This year’s Brighton & Hove Rainbow Run, which took place in Hove Park on August 4, raised £6,000 for the Brighton Rainbow Fund, which distributes funds raised within the community as grants to local LGBTQ+ and HIV projects.

This year’s event was bigger, better, louder and prouder than ever! Organised by local LGBTQ running club, Brighton & Hove FrontRunners, the Rainbow Run brought a fun and lively carnival atmosphere to the park with runners wearing their best festival outfits.

Prizes were awarded for the fastest male, female and non-binary runners as well as for the best fancy dress. DJs from Gaydio spun party tunes and local drag queens and friends were on hand to egg on the runners.

Scott Oakley, chair of the organising committee, said: “I am pleased to announce we are donating £6,000 to the Brighton Rainbow Fund from the Brighton & Hove Rainbow Run, organised by Brighton & Hove FrontRunners.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported us, volunteered for us and my amazing committee who have donated there hours for seven months to put this event.

“We are truly a local running club, supported by local businesses, giving back to the local community.”
