A group of transphobes, calling themselves Free Speech Union, were ejected from the Southern Belle pub in Brighton on September 17.
The group, which met to discuss “safeguarding children against pervasive gender ideology”, were told to leave by management after a complaint was made about their impromptu meeting. After refusing, security intervened, saying “everyone who refuses to leave is now trespassing”.
Comedian Janey Godley waded in on Twitter, formerly X, saying: “Imagine you’re in a pub and people set up a speaker to the system and hold a meeting about ANYthing without permission. then get upset they’re asked to leave – who the fuck does that? Support Southern Belle in Brighton.”

Others also stepped up on the social media platform with one account adding: “Brighton & Hove is exactly the wrong type of place to try and pull stunts like that.”
Brighton & Hove is exactly the wrong type of place to try and pull stunts like that. The Landlord has to look to his regular customers.
