Brighton & Hove Frontrunners’ Rainbow Run raises £3,500 for Brighton & Hove’s LGBTQ+ communities

Brighton & Hove Frontrunners is celebrating its second Rainbow Run, which took place on Friday, August 4 – just before Brighton & Hove Pride weekend.

The event saw just under 400 runners (100 more than last year) start their Pride weekend by running the 5k route in Hove Park. This year the running group introduced a drag warm-up, which was very popular, and the event raised £3,500 for the Brighton Rainbow Fund, which is the central hub for fundraising within Brighton & Hove’s LGBTQ+ communities, and distributes grants to local projects which benefit, and make a difference, to the lives of hundreds of individuals within those communities.

Chris Gull, chair of the Brighton Rainbow Fund, said; “The Brighton Rainbow Fund is grateful for, and impressed by, the total that Frontrunners raised with the 2023 Pride Rainbow Run. We will be distributing the funds, according to need, as grants which will make a difference to the lives of so many in our community.”

Brighton & Hove Frontrunners is a friendly group of LGBTQ+ people and allies who meet on a regular basis for fun and social running.

The group meets at 7pm every Wednesday at the green area next to the King Alfred Leisure Centre car park and weekly Sunday runs take at various places around Brighton or Hove.
