Clock Tower Sanctuary, a charity supporting young people experiencing homelessness in Brighton & Hove, has announced the appointment of a new Chair and Vice Chair.
Rob Kidd, exiting chair, and a trustee since 2017, says: “It’s been a huge privilege to play a part in Clock Tower’s story. They support young people going through unimaginable trauma and receive no statutory funding for doing so.”
Emily Brock, incoming chair, said: “As a trustee of Clock Tower Sanctuary for the past five years, including as vice-chair since 2019, I have seen the organisation go from strength-to-strength, despite having to navigate a pandemic and now a cost-of-living crisis. In my capacity as the new chair, I am committed to supporting the staff team and the board to deliver our 2022-2024 strategy.”
Mo Kanjilal, incoming vice-chair, said: “I am delighted to move into the role of vice-chair at Clock Tower Sanctuary. The charity really helps young people with their futures, and I am looking forward to bringing my experience and different perspectives to the team and the work that we do.”
Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre for homeless 16-to-25 year olds in the city. Based in central Brighton, it’s a place where young people who have nowhere to call home can feel safe and ‘just be’.
Commenting on the new appointments, Frances Duncan, CEO of Clock Tower Sanctuary, said: “The year ahead will not be without its challenges; we expect increased applications to our Crisis Fund as young people battle increasing rent and energy costs, as well as the potential cost of giving crisis that may affect our fundraising efforts.
“The sound governance, challenge and support our trustees offer is needed now more than ever. We are delighted to welcome Emily and Mo in their new roles on our board, and extremely grateful to those stepping down for their years of service.”
