The Brighton Trans Rights Vigil will take place at Dorset Gardens on Saturday, July 4 from 1pm, check out the Facebook event page for more info.
Throughout July there are many vigils planned in towns and cities across the UK, on July 4th they take place in Brighton & Lewes, with the Trans, non-binary community and allies holding a peaceful vigil to demand that trans rights not be removed and to remember and commemorate those whose lives have been lost to transphobia and transphobic violences.
Meg Murphy, co-organiser of Brighton Trans Rights Vigil, said ‘We are planning this action as a peaceful vigil to demand that trans rights not be removed in response to leaks of the Government’s decision to back away from the overwhelmingly positive results from the Gender Recognition Act consultation held in 2018.
‘It is also being held as an opportunity for the trans, non-binary, intersex, and genderqueer community to come together (from a safe social distance) to commemorate those whose lives have been lost to transphobia and transphobic violences.’
