Brighton & Hove to mark Trans Day of Remembrance on Sunday, November 20

Brighton & Hove is to mark Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR) on Sunday, November 20 at Jubilee Square and the Ledward Centre (TLC) in central Brighton.

The event, which is co-organised by TNBI and LGBTQ+ organisations / charities and is free for all to attend – will run from 12-4pm, and will start with community speakers in Jubilee Square from 12pm, before a performance from Rainbow Chorus, and a light lunch in the neighbouring TLC.

The event will be live streamed to Zoom (sign up via info@clareproject.org.uk for the link), and there will also be a memorial video produced that will be displayed on loop at TLC. This memorial video will also be made available on YouTube for anyone wishing to watch another time.

There will be community volunteers and appropriate security provided on the day, and as previous years, organisers ask ask the police not to visit the event.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

If you’d like to volunteer, email g.hutchins@clareproject.org.uk by 9am on Friday, November 18. Community members and allies are welcome to apply for a variety of roles required between 9am – 5pm on Sunday, November 20, including helping usher people during the event, lunch preparation, advice/info stalls, or helping set up/pack down. You will receive an email briefing on Friday, November 18.

ACCESSIBILITY 

Jubilee Square and the Ledward Centre are wheelchair accessible, and equipped with a lift and wheelchair accessible toilet. There will be BSL interpretation provided on the day for the speakers and song performance. For any other access enquiries, email info@clareproject.org.uk or speak to a volunteer on the day.
