From 1-5pm on Sunday August 29, The Village in Brighton Marina will be hosting a free party in honour of Pride while raising money for The Rainbow Fund. David Lynn, Portia De Fosse, and Snow White Trash – three of Brighton’s most well-known drag queens – will be giving special performances alongside professional dance groups The Sass Squad and ODC from Marina Studios.
One highly-anticipated number will see all performers singing and dancing to Gloria Gaynor’s I Am What I Am. David Lynn will be hosting the event that is set to be a “really fun afternoon” with plenty of “music, song and dance and a lot of lipstick and false eyelashes.” Attendees also have the opportunity to win a chance to join the queens on a boat party.
Sophie Chandler, marketing manager for Brighton Marina, said the event hopes to offer an alternative way for everyone to celebrate Pride, adding: “We really wanted to offer residents, locals, and visitors a vibrant and exciting event keeping in the theme of Pride, so we decided to celebrate this year with an all-singing, all-dancing party with three fabulous celebrity drag queens.”
No ticket is required for entry, with visitors encouraged to bring blankets and foldable chairs to make themselves comfortable. Any donations will be given to The Rainbow Fund to help support local LGBTQ+ organisations.
