The Equality Network, a national organisation working for LGBTQ+ equality in Scotland, has launched recruitment for a new Director (chief executive).
The current Director, Tim Hopkins, will be retiring soon, having been one of the founders of the organisation in 1997, and Director since 2010.
He said: “It has been a great privilege to work in the Equality Network, with wonderful colleagues, for the past 26 years, and as Director for 13 years. But I reach retirement age in a few weeks, and it is time to pass on to a successor. Once the new Director is in place, and handover is complete, I’ll be retiring, but I fully intend to continue to stand up personally for LGBTQ+ equality.”
The ideal candidate will be passionate about LGBTQ+ equality and will be a great communicator, with excellent political judgement and acumen, and the vision to galvanise the LGBTQ+ equality movement to achieve real change. You will have an excellent understanding of the Scottish political context and a track record in achieving change.
Robert MacBean, chair of the Equality Network’s Board of Trustees, said “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the staff, volunteers and many supporters of the Equality Network I want to acknowledge and thank Tim for his outstanding commitment. Over the last 26 years he has in one way or another been at the centre of all the significant steps achieved towards equality for LGBTQ+ people.
“That work continues, and we will be seeking a new Director to lead us and our campaign so that every LGBTQ+ person in Scotland can live their life knowing they are respected for who they are free from prejudice and discrimination.”
Closing date for applications is Friday, November 17. The details of the recruitment can be found here.
